Have you visited the biggest dinosaur exhibition in Europe yet?
Discover the impressive Tyrannosaurus, the spiky Triceratops, the long Diplodocus, the jagged Stegosaurus and the streamlined Olorotitan. But the original fossils of the Bernissart Iguanodons are the absolute stars of the show - our national pride and joy! The exhibition uses multimedia to bring these skeletons back to life - tens of millions of years coming at you in a fraction of a second. Shivers guaranteed!
Does this journey into the past make you want to know more about the story of Life in the past, present and future? In the new Evolution Gallery, with its nearly one thousand fossils as well as more recent specimens, along with numerous interactive displays, you can discover the incredible richness of life and the mechanisms of evolution.
(Re) discover the treasures of our permanent exhibitions too: dinosaurs, minerals, shells, the vivarium, mammals… and of course the permanent room, “250 years of natural sciences”, where fourteen emblematic objects are on display, representing two and a half centuries of rich and exciting history; combining science, collections, discoveries and adventures.
As from end 2010, a new permanent room in the Museum will invite you to explore the urban environment, to understand what biodiversity is and how to protect it. It will also give you the opportunity to try and manage urban biodiversity. A unique and innovative approach in a museum of natural sciences.
There are also temporary exhibitions in the museum.
Until 29 August 2010, the “Whales and Dolphins” exhibition immerses you in the fascinating world of marine mammals. Learn about their origins, their way of living, listen to their songs and understand why man is now a threat for these cetaceans.
