Le CAP – Culture, Art and Heritage, a vibrant cultural journey in the historic heart of Mons

In the heart of Mons, Le CAP offers a new way to experience culture. More than a museum, it is a museum complex where fine arts, heritage, collections and nature interact freely. Here, visitors move, connect and rediscover the story of art and creation in a space designed as a fluid and accessible journey, open to every kind of curiosity.

Three places, one unified visitor experience

Le CAP brings together three complementary spaces that naturally respond to one another.
The Museum of Fine Arts (formerly the BAM) hosts temporary exhibitions that highlight the collections of Mons, placing them within contemporary, sensitive and often surprising perspectives. The artworks engage in dialogue with current artistic questions, constantly renewing the visitor’s gaze.

The Maison des Collections offers a journey through the history of Mons, told through the city’s collections. Here, heritage becomes narrative: objects, artworks and documents form a living story rooted in the territory and collective memory.

Between the two, the Jardin du Poirier Beurré provides a welcome pause. This space combines a lapidary collection with a place of conviviality, where visitors can take time to pause, exchange and contemplate. Nature becomes part of the visit, creating a calming balance between indoor and outdoor spaces.

A natural link between art, heritage and nature

What makes Le CAP distinctive is its ability to connect. It connects the museums to one another, connects artworks to their context and connects culture with an urban and green environment. The visit is never fixed: it unfolds step by step, guided by curiosity, discoveries and personal interests.

The spaces are designed to be welcoming and easy to navigate, encouraging an intuitive experience. Visitors can explore a topic in depth, wander through the garden, retrace their steps or shape their own path. It is a gentle and intelligent way to encounter art and heritage.

A place to experience at the rhythm of the city

Located in the historic centre of Mons, Le CAP naturally becomes part of a city stroll. Visitors enter out of curiosity and stay for the pleasure of discovery. The site appeals both to art enthusiasts and casual visitors thanks to its balance between cultural depth and accessibility.

Every visit is different: a new exhibition, a detail noticed in the collections, a quiet moment in the garden. Le CAP is discovered and rediscovered as a living space, constantly evolving.
