Information

The Musée du Malgré-Tout is an archaeological museum in the village of Treignes (Viroinval). It offers a permanent exhibition on the regional archaeology of the south of Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse, from prehistory to antiquity. Above this exhibition, most of whose artefacts were found by the museum's archaeologists, the gallery on the evolution of humanity and techniques takes you on a journey spanning millions of years. The temporary exhibition hall hosts a variety of fascinating themes twice a year. At the end of November 2025, an exhibition on mammoths will be organised, followed by an exhibition on women in ancient Egypt in April 2026!

The museum also offers activities, which are free with admission to the museum during all weekends, public holidays and school holidays. There are also numerous workshops throughout the year, guided tours of exhibitions and archaeological sites, a library, a prehistoric park with reconstructions of prehistoric dwellings and numerous events for young and old, such as the archaeology festival held on the weekend of Pentecost. On the programme: an entertaining and fascinating journey through time!
