Les Musées de Logne, 1,000 years of history to discover as a family

At the Musées de Logne, history is not only read in display cases: it is told, almost touched, and reveals surprises at every step. Located in the former Ferme de la Bouverie, a charming and memory-filled place, this museum space invites visitors to uncover more than 1,000 years of history, from the Merovingian period to the fall of the fortified castle of Logne in 1521. Many visitors admit upon leaving that they did not expect a museum so rich, so well presented and so captivating.

From the entrance, the atmosphere is warm, almost intimate. It quickly becomes clear that the experience will be both family-friendly, refined and full of surprises.

Three worlds to travel back in time

The Musées de Logne offer three complementary worlds that interact and enrich the visit. The exhibition « Living in the Castle of Logne » immerses visitors in the daily life of the medieval fortress. Through objects discovered in the castle well, visitors discover medieval tableware, combat and leisure activities. Portraits seem to speak, the spirit of the castle emerges, and visitors gradually understand life and eventually the fall of the site in 1521.

The journey continues with « Merovingian Treasures of Vieuxville ». Here, visitors travel back to the dawn of the Middle Ages, to the 5th, 6th and 7th centuries, discovering the customs and daily life of the women and men who lived in the valley. Everyday objects, weapons, jewellery, glassware, rites and beliefs reveal the life and death of this population through a local collection from the region. A fascinating immersion in a still little-known period.

When bread tells history

The third universe often brings a delightful surprise: « Baker’s Delights ». This exhibition takes visitors into the flavourful world of traditional baking. Bread is presented as an essential witness to our history, bringing together traditions, gestures and craft secrets.

In summer and on the first Sunday of each month, demonstration workshops complement the visit. The museum’s bakers prepare their recipes in front of visitors, explain their techniques and answer questions. A lively and convivial moment that appeals to both children and adults.

A museum that surprises and inspires return visits

What stands out at the Musées de Logne is their ability to surprise. The museum is human in scale, yet the collections are rich, coherent and carefully presented. Visitors learn almost without noticing, carried along by the diversity of themes and the quality of the storytelling.

Many leave amazed, with the feeling of having discovered a discreet yet deeply fascinating place where archaeology becomes accessible and vividly alive.
