A meaningful visit to enjoy with respect, ideal for history enthusiasts, curious families and all those who want to better understand the past to shed light on the present.
In Brûly-de-Pesche, the Hitler Bunker invites visitors to experience a rare and deeply impactful journey into the history of the Second World War. It was here, in 1940, that Hitler’s headquarters were established, now transformed into a museum of remembrance. From the very first steps, the place commands respect. Nothing spectacular or artificial: only the raw strength of an authentic site, nestled in a preserved forest village, where history still seems to whisper through the trees.
The bunker you discover is the actual site used during the Occupation. The spaces, volumes and traces of the past immerse visitors in a particular atmosphere of silence, gravity and reflection. Here, time slows down. People do not come to be entertained, but to understand, feel and remember.
The authentic documents, carefully presented, place the site in its historical context. They recount the installation of the headquarters, as well as the daily life of an Ardennes village whose routine was disrupted by the turmoil of war.
The visit is guided by audio guides available in four languages, allowing everyone to explore at their own pace. Voices, testimonies and explanations accompany the journey with accuracy, never forcing emotion. Yet the feeling is undeniably present. Many visitors speak of a journey back in time, where curiosity, respect and a deep admiration for those who resisted intertwine.
The exhibition pays a strong tribute to the local resistance and to the heroes of Couvin, reminding visitors that behind major historical events lie human destinies, often courageous and sometimes tragic.
The Hitler Bunker also succeeds in the delicate task of passing memory on to younger generations. For families, a riddle game turns the visit into a learning adventure. Children become explorers of the past, learning through observation, searching and reflection. It is a thoughtful and respectful way to bring history to life without distorting it.
Visitors’ feedback is unanimous: the visit is unusual, moving and leaves a lasting impression. The warm welcome contrasts with the gravity of the site, creating a balanced experience between remembrance and humanity.
The Hitler Bunker in Brûly-de-Pesche is an essential place for those interested in the memory of the Occupation, the resistance and the lesser-known chapters of the Second World War in Wallonia.
