ReGare sur Fosses-la-Ville, a living immersion in the heart of Fosses folklore

ReGare sur Fosses-la-Ville does not simply tell the story of local folklore: it invites visitors to feel it, listen to it and almost experience it from within. From the very first steps, you realise that you are entering a unique place, entirely dedicated to a living heritage, passed down with passion and generosity. Here, traditions are not frozen behind display cases: they vibrate, resonate and continue to animate the town, in the heart of the province of Namur, just a few minutes from the centre of Fosses-la-Ville.

Diving into the world of the Chinels and major local traditions

It is impossible to evoke Fosses-la-Ville without mentioning the Chinels, emblematic masked figures of the carnival, or the famous Septennial March of Saint Feuillen, recognised as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. At ReGare sur Fosses-la-Ville, these traditions come to life through a rich and accessible permanent exhibition, complemented by temporary exhibitions that continually renew the perspective on local folklore.

Visitors also discover the Limotche, other rituals, objects, images and stories that bring depth to practices that are sometimes little known. Many visitors express their surprise: they did not expect to find folklore that is so varied, so rich and above all so alive. This feeling of discovery is an integral part of the visit.

A sensory and human experience, between sounds and emotions

The strength of the place also lies in its atmosphere. The sounds of fifes and drums, the symbolic detonations of rifles and cannons, immediately evoke the unique atmosphere of the Marches of Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse. Visitors are carried along by this festive energy, by the joyful tension that precedes the passage of the processions.

The team, often praised for its availability and friendliness, plays an essential role in this immersion. Exchanges are simple, warm and always guided by a desire to share. ReGare sur Fosses-la-Ville is in fact the only place fully dedicated to showcasing the folklore of Fosses, with an approach that is both educational and deeply human.

An accessible and welcoming centre for all audiences

Educational activities, themed workshops and occasional events offer several levels of interpretation: younger visitors marvel, adults deepen their understanding and everyone leaves with the feeling of having learned without ever feeling bored.

This diversity of activities makes ReGare sur Fosses-la-Ville a vibrant place, constantly evolving, firmly rooted in local life yet open to anyone wishing to better understand the spirit of the region.
