Villers Abbey

One of Belgium's top historical and touristic sites, Villers-la-Ville Abbey is located in Brabant Wallon, just 30 km from Brussels.

A place apart, this timeless monument is one of Europe's best-preserved abbeys and a genuine compendium of over 900 years of history, everyday life and know-how in architecture and water management.

Be part of the promenade-concert of the summer, where you will find internationally-renowned vocal groups. In Villers-la-Ville on 29 and 30/08/14!

Scattered throughout the most remarkable spots in the historical site of the Villers-la-Ville Abbey, 6 vocal groups take it in turns to perform a concert.

At the end of the evening, all of the artists will join together on the main stage for a moving grand finale along with a prestigious firework display.

Whatever the programme, the weather or the décor, the public arrives in droves every year to experience THE promenade-concert.

The 2014 programme features:

  • The Saint-Petersbourg Choir (Russia)  - Opera and tradition,
  • Yael Naim and the Fr. Bardot choirs (Israel) - Acoustic Pop,
  • The Foreign Legion Choir (France) - Myths and French tradition,
  • The original James Brown choir singers ( USA) - Acoustic Funk,
  • The London Quartet (UK) - A Cappella Humour.

Due to security and mobility reasons, and so that each guest can have clear visibility of the stage, the number of seats offers each night is limited and reservation is required.

Le troisième weekend de septembre, les Médiévales s'installent dans le magnifique cadre des ruines de l'Abbaye de Villers-la-Ville !

Plongez-vous au coeur des campements du Moyen Âge

Les Médiévales de Villers-la-Ville est l'occasion de découvrir le savoir-faire ancestral des artisans de l'époque : cuisiniers, forgerons, vanniers... Ou de vous initiez à l'archerie !

Promenez-vous dans les campements, laissez-vous bercer par la musique celtique et médiévale.

Au programme :

  • démonstrations d’archerie et tournoi d’adresse
  • spectacles et animations
  • reconstitution des échoppes et des différents métiers des artisans du Moyen Age : Vannerie, haubergerie (fabrication de cottes de mailles), fabrication de flèches…
  • marché de bouche et d’artisanat
  • visites guidées de l’Abbaye
  • bar et restauration.

Un véritable retour dans le temps autour de la thématique des bâtisseurs du Moyen Âge !

The abbey invites families to spend Easter Monday within its secular walls for activities and an artisan market. In Villers-la-Ville, on 06/04/15.
This day is the result of a collaboration between the non-profit organisation, artists, artisan craftsmen, local partners and the media.
The unequivocal aim is to animate a listed exceptional Walloon heritage site.
Young and old have fun in a festive atmosphere: they can take part in a whole host of new and original activities such as a giant skipping rope, building a fishing rod, climbing trees, making giant bubbles, or even travelling to the abbey's unknown corners by steam train...
When it's time to sit down and take a break, visitors can sit down on the terrace in the heart of the abbey to enjoy a beer and some delicious dishes!

Des oldtimers - voitures, tracteurs, motos et attelages - se côtoient et rivalisent de maîtrise et d'élégance au cœur des murs séculaires de l'Abbaye de Villers-la-Ville. C'est ce qui fait le charme de Rétro-mobile. 

Cet événement vous emmène à la découverte des moyens de transports utilisés par l'homme au fil du temps.

L'abbaye accueille dans son enceinte historique des voitures anciennes, de quoi ravir les amateurs d'oldtimers !

5th and from now on, traditional edition of this festive breakfast, that submerges you into the heart of Quebec!

Not only will you be able to taste local flavours, such as maple syrup and poutine, but you will also be able to pick up bits of indispensable information and documentation for a potential trip.

Many partners such as Air Transat, le Carnaval de Québec, the Délégation Génerale Du Québec à Bruxelles, the newspaper Québec Le Mag' and Go Canada will all take part.

A Quebec-inspired beer will also be available to taste!

Brewed by l'Echappée Belle, a local microbrewery in Sart-Dames-Avelines.

Poutine..what is it?

Poutine is a Quebec dish consisting of chips, cheese curds (fresh Cheddar) that are generally covered in gravy. Its origin is unknown and there exist many variants of it: different sauces, cheeses and the addition of other ingredients, etc.

A delight for cheese, chips and sauce other words, a delight for the Belgians!
