Chimay Experience, a sensory journey into Trappist craftsmanship

Just a short distance from the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Scourmont, the Chimay Experience invites visitors into a warm and interactive immersion in the world of Chimay’s Trappist beer and cheese. Here, visitors do more than simply learn — they feel, interact and taste. This lively museum experience, rooted in 175 years of history, highlights a unique heritage shaped by tradition, craftsmanship and solidarity.

An interactive journey to understand and experience

The visit unfolds as a playful and sensory exploration. Interactive installations encourage visitors to actively participate: a dark pathway sharpens the senses to recognise brewing tools, while other stations reveal the gestures, ingredients and long process behind the creation of Chimay products.

The story also highlights the Authentic Trappist Product label, a mark of authenticity and commitment. Production remains linked to the abbey, and the revenues help support works of solidarity and charity. Through this approach, the history becomes tangible and accessible without losing its depth.

Create, play and personalise your visit

The Chimay Experience loves to surprise visitors. You can create your own portrait, customise a beer coaster, interact with graphic elements and leave with a unique souvenir. Families particularly enjoy this participatory approach, where children and adults alike find their place between discovery and shared enjoyment.

The atmosphere is friendly and lively, filled with moments of curiosity and smiles that encourage exchange and learning.

Tasting to truly understand

The most anticipated moment arrives at the end of the visit: the tasting. This final step naturally connects knowledge with sensation. Aromas unfold, textures reveal themselves, and visitors begin to understand the strong connection between place, time, craftsmanship and flavour.

It is a delicious and enlightening experience that gives full meaning to the entire journey.

Extending the experience between nature and lifestyle

The site is set within a peaceful forest environment. A forest walk leads visitors toward the Scourmont Abbey, extending the discovery through a calm and contemplative stroll.

On site, a restaurant, playground, shop, hotel and seminar facilities complete the experience, making it possible to enjoy a full and relaxed getaway in the heart of Wallonia.
